The aim of the SpotLight Initiative is to integrate, encourage and inspire children from a wide variety of ethnic and social backgrounds with contemporary music.
The initiative works closely with primary schools to provide children with integrated music education in their daily lives.
SpotLight Key Facts:
A music education project established by Folkwang graduates for 20 years, involving children in professional concert productions
Around 10,000 children from over 100 different primary schools in the Ruhr area have already taken part.
An annual project for 3rd and 4th grade elementary school students
One lesson per week at your own primary school
Child-friendly and contemporary repertoire, which is specially developed, composed and produced for the initiative

Was ist ein Medley? Wer kann erklären?
Medley
Ein Medley ist ein Musikstück, in dem mehrere verschiedene Lieder oder Liedausschnitte miteinander verbunden werden. Dabei wird nicht jedes Lied komplett gesungen, sondern meistens nur ein bekannter Teil, zum Beispiel der Refrain.
Ein Medley ist also ein bisschen wie eine musikalische Mischung: Ein Lied beginnt, danach wechselt die Musik direkt zum nächsten Song.
Beispiel: Zuerst singen wir den Refrain von „Jingle Bells“, danach geht es direkt mit einem Teil von „Oh Tannenbaum“ weiter. Zusammen entsteht daraus ein Weihnachts-Medley, ein Weihnachts Mix.
